Training
In order to provide a quality service which is consistent and meets the needs of our carers and
the people they care for, we do the following:
Give new staff a comprehensive induction which includes an introduction to the standards we require.
This is based on the Skills for Care Common Induction Standards which include:
• Dignity and Respect
• Role of the Health and Social Care Worker
• Health and Safety
• Effective Communication
• Equality and Inclusion
• Principles of implementing duty of care
• Principles of Safeguarding
• Person Centred Support
• Personal Development
• How to transfer and handle people safely
• First Aid
• Infection Control
• Safe handling of medications
• Food Hygiene
Staff will also be trained in specialised areas to enhance the skills required to better care and
understand a person’s illness/ disability and/or to carry out a specialised task.
All our Carer Support Workers have or are in the process of studying for their National
Vocational Qualification level 2 or 3 and more recently the Diploma in Health and Social Care.
Training is updated in line with the standards required.
Management staff are supported to gain the relevant qualifications relating to their role
and to provide the expertise required to run a quality service.
